Personality: Motivated by the need to achieve control; both of himself and others. He is usually apathetic; even-tempered, but becomes contemptuous and can be quite easily angered if mocked. Cynical, distrustful. Manipulative; abuses his ability to link minds and practices subtle, efficient mind control. He does everything deliberately and absolutely hates to share his toys. Eager and daring in battle. Harsh/relentless in his decisions. Delano tries his best to cut himself off from any empathy towards others and often seems absorbed in his own interests. Socially arrogant and critical; he doesn’t know how to respond to kindness. Evasive and secretive considering personal information. Heterosexual with a healthy libido, flirtatious in style, but crude in expression /uses seduction in place of romance. Can be surprisingly pleasant and humorous.

Firstborn in the House of Duncan, Delano was raised under the strict rules of vampire society. Growing up he was educated in the fields of history, herbalism, astronomy; and after, as he was admitted to Hogwarts (sorted Slytherin), in various aspects of magic. Thanks to the high position in the family clan, Phantom was the one to closely observe the development of his vampiric abilities. Exquisite training enabled Delano to fully grasp and take advantage of the power he was blessed with; aside from the ability granted by the bloodline, Delano's blessing (or curse) gave him an unique ability to gain control of one's mind, so much that nearly no effort was required of him to establish a mind link and through it affect one's actions.

Though he paid a certain attention to his Hogwarts education, Delano never expressed an interest to use magic at a later point in life. His being responded most well to his vampire nature. In years to come he would hold himself graceful in sight of humans, witches and muggles alike, priding himself with his bloodline. There was, however, a study that he pursued with genuine interest during his stay behind the castle walls; one that he found in books more so than on lips of his professors. He explored the aspects of Legilimency and Occlumency, and delighted in comparing these acts to his own natural ability to slip inside one's mind.

The life Delano had inside his father's house was often far from fanciful, and yet Delano held so much respect for his beliefs that he applied every harsh word to his own fault. He felt the pressure of an old grudge from the moment he was old enough to understand it; the distance between Head Family and First Branch, of which he was a part of. When Delano was born, there were no children in the Head Family; and if it so remained, Delano would have proper claim to lead the clan someday. It would have worked well in favour of House Duncan, and for a while it seemed it would indeed be so, as Adair had on several occasions mentioned to his brother that he had no intention of having any children at all. Unfortunately for Duncan, this changed when Adair met Rosemary, and with the birth of twins Sorrow and Misery, all that was left was bitter disappointment.

This was not the end of Duncan’s scheming; the desire to have one of his own in Lead was so strong that he maintained focus on his brother’s family and requested an arranged marriage between Delano and Adair’s daughter. By rights Delano was older than Sorrow, and through the joining he would again lay claim to Adair’s position. Adair, however, promptly refused any such an arrangement. In years that followed, Delano first courted Misery as instructed, but later truly became fond of his cousin; and this was perhaps first that he ever regretted being pushed, for he ended the hurt party in Duncan’s plan.

He grew contemptuous of his own father and it reflected in his actions. After Hogwarts Delano pursued a new goal, one for himself rather than the House Duncan. He came into contact with Death Eaters and through them he began to have dealings with the order itself, though whether he ever felt truly loyal to the Death Eaters remained hidden between the lines of his own favour. For the past two years Delano acted as a full-time member of the organization, most closely in contact with Aries Lestrange. He offered information and did jobs when required, and never asked for much in return. There were, in fact, only two things that he claimed as rewards for his service; first was a little blue box filled with bright blue sand, and the second was Misery’s wand. Aries had taken both items from his cousin at the time of Misery’s imprisonment and, though Delano returned the box, he kept the wand in his possession.
