ÉMILE LAPAINE

Lapaine, Emile Hugh-Dancy-hot-british-actors-655457_997_1203-1-1-1

HEADMASTER OF BEAUXBATONS/ORDER MEMBER

AgeGenderBlood Status
25malepureblood

Magic:

Abilities: None.

Wand: Handturned from Solid Mahogany, 14 inches with an essence of Unicorn hair. Pliable. Mahogany is known to be excellent for transfiguration and makes a great tool for warding off the Dark Arts.

Patronous: Mockingjay

Specialty: Transfiguration/DADA/Empathy

Weakness: Another's strong emotion, as Emile, as an empath, can feel it. If, for example, something bad happens to his sister, Panda, even if they are miles away, he will feel nauseated or sick because she is probably the closest to him. Other such things are possible, too.

Characteristics:

Personality: Usually, Emile holds himself with grace and politeness, rarely aiming to insult and trying to be kind and fair to everyone. When surrounded by old friends or people he likes, Emile is able to do what some would call crazy or insane things, all for the sake of having fun and cheering someone up.

Likes: He likes creating things, be it from a scratch or an old, unused pattern. In the past, his great passion was fashion, style and design – not because he thought clothes were important and should make each person, but because they were important to him, a way he could express himself and need not utter a word. In people, Emile searches honesty and likes those who are able to loosen up every once in a while and have fun.

Dislikes: Lies, deception and things running out of control. People who refuse to listen to reason and are stubborn, therefore resulting in hurting those around them.

Fears: Not being able to resolve the mystery regarding Remy’s death and sudden deaths of anyone he still manages to love.

History:

The Lapaines are purebloods, but not as proud as most pureblood families. They like to lay low, leading peaceful lives – mostly, though Emile learned that he had a couple of relatives in the ranks of Death Eaters, and a couple more in the Order.
His father, Sacha Lapaine, and his mother, Irene Lapaine (born Voltaire, another pureblood family), raised three children: Emile, Pandora and Remy. The three grew up in a loving environment, though with their own share of hardships, seeing as they lived in a small district of Lyon. But they were all given proper education – Emile becoming what he is now, Pandora following the steps of famous aurors. Little Remy was, unfortunately, unable to finish her dream to become a Healer. She died at the age of 15, drowned under suspicious circumstances.

The Lapaine name was not well known in the Wizard Society before Emile stepped on-scene, as the families usually chose to settle down quietly in various parts of France.
Emile never was content with just that.
His parents – Sacha and Irene Lapaine – found home in a small district of Lyon, where they brought up Emile and his two younger sisters – Pandora and Remy. The three children were raised mostly around muggles, and taught to respect the difference between their and the non-magical society, rather than discriminate. But despite his calm, kind and polite behaviour, silently, Emile strived towards some goal, wanting to become something greater, to have his name recognized. He did not wish to spend the whole of his life in Lyon.
After graduating from Beauxbatons at 17 – for that is the Magic Academy Emile had attended – he took to travelling around Europe and learning about one of his great passions – fashion. A year and a half passed, and Emile’s name was slowly becoming recognized in the Muggle world: he became a designer, a stylist, began sketching his own designs, creating and developing them into actual creations. Seeing Emile was quite gifted in the art of Transfiguration, transfiguring a cloth, a fabric into something of his mind’s imagination proved a simple task and, as his art became famous and well wanted, Emile was only too eager to continue in that line of work.
Some time before his twentieth birthday, Emile returned to France for a family visit – to celebrate Pandora’s graduation and her becoming an auror. He thought to travel again soon after, but stayed in France once being offered a teaching position at his old Academy and only moved south, near Cannes. He started as a Transfiguration professor, only working as a designer as a hobby. A new collection of his would be released every three or four months, in the Muggle world, though he had tried doing the same in the Wizard world – where most of his creations had been rejected. Three years he worked as a professor before the old headmistress retired and named him, of all people, the new Directeur de l'Académie de Magie Beauxbâtons.
Emile accepted the honour and, though some of the senior professors looked down on him, proved to be the right man for the job. Aside from still occasionally teaching Transfiguration, he resolves any problems regarding the school swiftly and successfully. Though his behaviour is laid-back most of the time, Emile has a fair share of misfortune as well – around the time he became a Headmaster, a word from his parents also reached him to inform him of Remy’s death. She was fifteen at the time, just about to begin her fifth year at Beauxbatons. It was said that she drowned, but the circumstances regarding her death were unclear, suspicious. The mystery still bothers Emile from time to time, but he rarely speaks of it. Most of his emotions are usually channelled through his work, his designs – that way, he doesn’t hurt anyone but himself. In honour to his little sister, who so much loved her brother’s work, Emile released a special collection at the beginning of 2100., that earned him a Best Design Award in the Muggle world, and even caused a mild response in the Wizard word. But, since then, there had been no new designs from Emile.

Emile is not on the best terms with the Ministry officials (who is, really?). He’d received a couple of warnings after being caught trespassing, reading through some confidential files – though Pandora had managed to get him into the Ministry after Remy’s death, since they both wanted to research certain people, their little adventure did not end well. Pandora was able to keep her job, but only barely, and the Ministry’s doors were pretty much closed to Emile to this day.

Emile can be friendly to whoever accepts his presence. But, he believes that in big crowds, at parties, his role is being the dull man everyone would forget by the end of the evening. Throw in a smile, a comment here and there, try and have fun with everyone. And watch as the crowd disperses and he is left alone, thought to be someone he is not, finally – have them forget he was even there.
Enemies, Emile he knows he has more than he would have liked. He bears with that, dealing with one problem at a time and trying to cease the number of those who despise him.
Ah, l'amour. There has yet to be a time Emile will truly come to love someone except his little sisters. Once, during his travels, he had met a young woman – her lips graced with a smile, her eyes clear, her spirit young, light and higher than the stars. She was intelligent, ambitious and… sad. Yes, there was pain hidden behind that smile, and Emile had felt it with the whole of his soul. He liked her, perhaps still does, and wanted to protect her, take care of her. But a long time had passed since he last saw the woman. He believes that by now, her heart belongs to another man.
Still, in an attempt to keep his optimistic nature, Emile believes that one day he will meet someone and settle down quietly, with a family of his own. If pray, his daydreams, allow.
